Annual Thanksgiving Mass and Dinner 2016

April 2, 2016

Before we mention about the successful event that took place on 2nd April 2016 at the KCA, we would like to mention that there was a major re-vamp of the hall just before the event. It was a handful of dedicated members who undertook the task of refurbishing the totally neglected hall. Certain sections of the walls had to be re-plastered.The sides of the walls were skirted with tiles to avoid damages during functions. The fans were changed and old lights were replaced with energy efficient LED lights. The toilet blocks were also refurbished and are now more presentable and clean. The entire venue was painted and polished in record time to welcome our dear members. Our thanks go out to the team who worked round the clock to complete the job in record time…Thanks!!!

After years of silence the KCA was back in action, starting with a bang at the 2nd April 2016 function. We cannot forget to ‘Thank the Lord’ for his countless blessings to the KCA and its members, so we started the proceedings with a Thanksgiving Mass lead by Bishop Percival Fernandez and then followed by a social get together. The Bishop, in his Homily, stressed on peace and extending our hands towards helping our fellow members at the KCA and the community around us.

Between the mass and the social, we had the newly elected president Mr. Sunil Alva introduce his new team and this was done with a presentation in which he gave us a run down on the history of the KCA, the views & objectives of the KCA, and the task & vision ahead.

After the presentation, all our members were happy to rearrange their chairs in groups and meet each other after so many years.  The evening was well lead by our two compères, who had many activities lined up for our members and their kids to join in and have fun.

Sure enough the kids were ever willing to break the ice and headed straight to the floor for a set of games and to grab a prize or two. Therewere games for the adults too. To keep everyone on their toes several‘crazy calls’ were made from time to time and those who could fit the call walked away with a prize. The DJ did not disappoint those who wanted to dance the masala, jive, waltz or those who just wanted to shake a leg.

While some members walked around from table to table meeting KCA members and exchanging pleasantries, some members just enjoyed being around and enjoyed the hot snacks which kept on coming.Sure enough we also had some good hot drinks to wash it down with. In keeping with the Mangalorean flavor of the evening we got Flora Caterers to give us a menu withthe best of Mangalorean delicacies. The evening was a great success and our dear members kept asking about when we could all meet together again. Very soon, we said!!! Look forward to seeing you all at our next event…KCA Raindrops!!!
